A man living in a village sets out to travel far away with his horse and his son. While they are on their journey, the son is surprised to see his father, who has been through many ups and downs in life, leading the journey very happily. “Father, how can one lead a happy life?” he asks.
The father did not answer this question, but the horse was tired and could not walk due to thirst. When the father and son realized this, they went to a farmer who was watering his oxen under a rotating machine and asked him to give their horse water. The farmer agreed to give them water.
But the horse would run, snorting at the sound the machine made when it was turning, and no matter how many times they answered, the machine would still snort when it was turning.
“The boy who noticed this said, ‘Stop the farmer’s spinning machine, or he won’t be able to drink!'”
“The farmer replied, ‘If the machine doesn’t rotate, water can’t flow.'”
After many trials, the son and father rested under a tree.
“Father, my son, you asked me, ‘How can you live a happy life?'” he said.
“Yes, son, how are you?” he said.
The father replied, “Happiness is like a spinning machine and flowing water.”
The machine makes a loud noise when it rotates. If you want to drink water, you have to endure this loud noise like the bulls. If you are tired of the noise every time it roars, you will die of thirst without drinking.
Being happy in your life does not mean being free from problems. It means knowing how to deal with your problems and how to find happiness in your problems.
If you lose your joy every time you have a problem, you will end your life sad. But if you can enjoy the good things you have despite your problems, you will find satisfaction in life.
My son, if the machine doesn’t spin, water can’t flow, and without challenges, there is no joy in life.
“Only those who can endure the sound of their problems and drink the water will find satisfaction in life.”
The father taught his son the wisdom of happiness.
” He who is not satisfied with what he has will not be happy even if he gets what he wants .”
