A conscience not built on truth is unreliable. A heart not built on reason is a liar.
{The Science of Becoming Better}
A person cannot be rational in everything because he does not know everything. We cannot be rational in what we do not know. We reason, we consider evidence, we present evidence when we understand the matter. People who reason on the basis of what they do not know are like people who play at a gambling game. Being able to reason adequately and correctly even for what we know requires understanding in itself. There are many people who are not rational despite having learned and studied a lot. Many people who we think know a lot do not obey rationality.
Those who teach and entertain about logic are not rational themselves. Saint Paul said, “You who preach, ‘Do not steal,’ do you steal?” to warn people who do not practice what they say; who do not live what they preach. Analyzing and understanding are different things. Knowing and doing are not the same; resembling and being are not the same. There are a thousand things that seem but are not. The difficulty we have in trying to change what we know theoretically into practice is that knowing and applying are different things.
The history of our world is full of funny, amazing, sad, surprising and strange things. Isaac Newton spent his whole life searching for the Philosopher’s Stone (a combination of chemistry, philosophy, mysticism and spirituality). Newton’s search for the Philosopher’s Stone was not for the knowledge of the elemental element that would turn iron into gold. His search was due to the belief and thinking of the time that whoever found the Philosopher’s Stone would have the ability to cure any disease and extend life. Thomas Edison also said that radioactive technology could cure any disease; but after his close assistant Clarence Dally died from radiation injuries and suffering, he said, “Don’t talk to me about X-rays or X-rays; I’m afraid of that thing.
” Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, also said that vegans don’t need to bathe regularly. All these ideas are nonsense ideas that have not been proven by modern science. These people are experts in their fields and have gained a lot of experience. But they are human and cannot know everything. This is only because they are human. There is an irrational obsession with seeing one thing that everyone knows as the solution to everything. In our world, health doctors consider themselves experts in everything. Lawyers are also victims of this attitude. Economists also boast that their knowledge is the only thing that makes a country grow. It is common to say that everyone is only aware of their own understanding according to their profession.
We have seen people who are called experts, scholars, and who are given a special place in the world, fall into small ideas; they become irrational. We have seen and observed those to whom we have great expectations, those to whom we have entrusted our country, become biased, deviate from reasonable laws, suppress the truth, and trample on justice.
It is enough to be a sensible person to know that our knowledge of one thing does not guarantee our knowledge of everything. Even the knowledge we have today does not guarantee our knowledge of tomorrow. Knowledge grows and changes like a person. We have reached a time when it is impossible to boast about the knowledge of yesterday and today. Even if a person clings to the past, he cannot keep up with the times. Everything flows forward like a stream. Just as a river flows with different waters, so a person also processes different ideas and moves forward. Time brings; the mind never runs out of new things. New knowledge that confirms the past, cancels the present, and renews the present is born every day.
The source of knowledge never dries up. The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus believed that “nature is in a constant flow, the world flows like a stream.” Human knowledge, thoughts, and feelings change in a consistent way. Change is its constant nature. Time cannot stop or reverse it. This is why Heraclitus said, “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”
My friend… Thought is fickle; emotion is deceptive. Conscience is deceitful; it presents lies as truth. Those who follow only their instincts and fall into the abyss. Those who are destroyed by their own desires are counted and never end. Many times, people trample on truth and logic until we find an idea that suits our ego. We believe what gives us feelings rather than what gives us truth. When we only pursue happiness, we miss peace, justice, and truth. We do not understand that peace is found in happiness.
Happiness is temporary; but peace is permanent. A life that contains peace rather than happiness will be bright, and the mind will be pure. Peace is born from truth; happiness is born from feelings. There is happiness without peace; but there is no peace of mind without truth. The name of mind, peace, and happiness of heart is when they have truth. The dangers of unexamined thoughts, loose desires, and unsettled feelings are many.
It is not good to believe only what you are told. What your eyes have seen, what your ears have heard, what your nose has smelled, what your tongue has tasted, what your hand has touched, what your heart has whispered is not true. It is necessary to examine, to examine, to separate the raw from the ripe, to sift, to sift the thoughts, to weigh the feelings and to distinguish the benefits and harms. You reach the level of believing in yourself when you feed your inner self with different ideas and build it with truth, reason, justice and peace. A conscience that is not built with truth is not trustworthy; a heart that is not built with logic is a liar.
A rational conscience; a rational mind !
